Obesity, Diabetes and COVID-19:
Elucidating Bidirectional Links

Saturday, November 21, 2020 via Zoom
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM EST

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES
This complimentary virtual half-day program is designed for research scientists, clinicians, and students with an interest in diabetes and obesity. Specifically, this conference will focus on recent clinical and basic insights regarding SARS-CoV2 infection. Particular emphasis will be placed on the potential metabolic/genetic and demographic links to susceptibility and clinical outcomes in patients with obesity and pre-existing diabetes. Additional areas of focus will include novel treatment paradigms for diabetes in the COVID-19 era, and a look forward towards novel antiviral therapies.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  • Review epidemiology, pathogenesis, and current/future treatment paradigms for COVID-19.
  • Discuss obesity and diabetes as risk factors for SARS-CoV2-related patient outcomes.
  • Discuss management of diabetes and dysmetabolism in patients with COVID-19.
